An Overview of Marina History

Chrismar Marina is currently under construction. The previous marina (Buedel's Marina) closed during in the summer of 2005, after approximately 40 years of operation. Since then, Gast Construction has been in the process of redeveloping the entire site to include the new Chrismar Marina, a community of 38 luxury townhomes called The Villas at Devonport, 4 luxury apartments and a 2 story commercial building.

The first phase of marina construction was dedicated to stabilizing the shoreline, which had seen serious degradation and erosion. To that end, in the fall of 2006 Gast Construction completed the removal of all of the then-existing docks and pilings, and dredged 10,000 cubic yards of silt from the entire river marina area to the edge of the county channel. At the same time, a stone revetment -- a facing for protecting and supporting an embankment -- was installed the entire length of the waterfront property, to curtail erosion and runoff.

This was completed by February 1, 2007.

The next phase, underway as of May 15, 2007, is to build the 10' boardwalk along the entire waterfront. Once it is completed, we will attach the new floating piers. This phase should be completed in the summer/fall of 2007, and installation of the new floating docks is scheduled to take place in the spring/summer of 2008.

As we obtain additional permits, we will update our schedule and choose an official "Grand Opening Date." It's something exciting to contemplate!
